Chingchi Rickshaws Better Transport Than Coaches
A newly invented rickshaw named Chingchi is on roads for the last two years. Karachi, one of the largest cities of the world, has become a ‘Chingchi city’ due to lack of public transport systems. Initially I saw this strange looking transport in Punjab, commonly in Lahore for about 10 tears ago when we went to Pakistan tour. But now we can see this strange vehicle in our city, Karachi. Initially there were only few of these and covered some specific areas but now it is roaming in the whole city. Normally it charges 10 to 25rs per person (according to the mileage) which is almost equal to coaches and mini-buses but you will never get a proper seat to sit in a mini-bus but you will surely get in a chingchi. At the beginning of this business of several people, many law making people criticized it by saying that it is highly dangerous and unsafe for children and women and females traveling in it feel uncomfortable and disrespectful. From many criticisms one of that is its design as it is neither a rickshaw nor a motorcycle but a strange looking vehicle? And also they are not registered but now, mostly chingchi's design has changed and it become a proper rickshaw shape with 6 to 8 peoples capacity (according to the design). And the other ones like motorcycle rickshaws are banned in Karachi now.
Chingchi rickshaws are thousands in number in the city now. It does not omit smoke like coaches and buses do this means that it is environment friendly and also it does not stop at every nook and corner like mini-buses do. It is safe in security manner and also easily available on the roads. One can easily understand the difference between these rickshaws and mini-buses. It becomes famous all over the world..
According to me these rickshaws are better than mini-buses or coaches because I use this public transport daily and I am satisfy with it.
